Apropos Augustine

Linguistics

In linguistics, I employ the Locus equations perspectives ala Sussman and Lindblom, to find lawfulness to the apparent chaos that characterize speech signals. Thus, I conduct experimental studies on coarticulation, ‘the essence of speech,’ which implies that ‘discrete and invariant units serve as input to the system of motor control, and an eventual obscuration of the boundaries between units at the articulatory and acoustic level’.  At the core of my interest is the question, how do listeners deal with context-induced variabilities inherent in the speech signals, especially in the interaction of consonant and vowel?

Socio-Cultural Anthropology & Peoples and Cultures of Africa

In Socio-cultural anthropology and the study of peoples and cultures of Africa, I focus on how individuals’ habitual responses are informed by their core cultural formation, which more often than not,  trumps rational discourses and override veracity. In this area, I seek lawfulness to the seemingly intractable unlawfulness surrounding peoples utterances and actions when faced with existential issues . Essentially, a focus on everyday life.
